About us

We Are Torchy was founded by Eifion and Sarah Jones and is rooted in their lived experience of caring for their son through seven years of leukaemia treatment where they gained firsthand insights of how systems and protocols of health and social care affect the individuals they are designed to help.

Some of those experiences could not even be put into words let alone expressed through a feedback form but making art seemed to offer a way to hold those unmeasurable aspects of embodied human experience in a way that felt whole and sincere. As artists and creative professionals driven by this need, Eifion and Sarah have engaged in and contributed to research in Storytelling for Health, Arts in Health and the Philosophy of Science & Art.

We are Torchy is setup as a proudly independent organisation with a mission to help authentic voices to be expressed, listened to and engaged with. We believe creative, co-productive approaches spark conversations; increase debate, foster empathy and facilitate deeper understanding of the lives of individuals affected by large systems of health, care and governance.

This is a deeply personal film about the trauma of our son leukaemia diagnosis and the three year chemo treatment we've needed to help him through. The film explores how creative arts and filmmaking helped Sarah and Eifion reconnect and explore their feeling of disconnection and grief.
