Each piece is unique in size and in shape. There is a beautiful quote by Cornelia Elbrecht, ‘Follow your hands! Your hands know the way; in your head you will just stay in the known; in order to explore the unknown and find new ground, you need to trust your hands and follow the impulses in them’. I feel this quote incapsulates the meaning behind each piece I create and I try to stay intuitive to the dialogue between my hands, the clay and the movement of the wheel. Each piece for me is like a conversation created and held in each vessel. Sherry Turtle in her book ‘Evocative Objects’ explores the emotional response we have with objects ‘as companions to our emotional lives’. I hope this meaning and sentiment continues on in the sharing of these pieces.
