Beyond Words

‘Silence and solitude allow us to move beyond thought and into our embodied experience. Grief is felt, sensed in the viscera of our bellies, the inner walls of our chest. We know grief by its felt experience; it is tangible. It is here, in our sighing and sensing body, that we encounter the terrain of sorrow…Turning our attention toward the way we sense our sorrow is a necessary and healing move’ (Weller, Francis 2015)

Beyond Words film explores inner worlds, felt as parents of a child going through Leukaemia treatment, it tracks a psychological journey from safe connection to disconnection. The film aims to takes the viewer on an emotional journey using artwork installation and incorporating it into an audio visual narrative. It also looks to explore how we experience objects and the meanings we give to them.

‘Beyond Words’ was selected to be presented at 2024 ‘Storytelling for Health and Wellbeing Conference’ in association with The George Ewart Evans Centre for Storytelling, Swansea Bay Health Board, Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board, Beyond the Border, Awen Cultural Trust, and the University of South Wales.
